The South Park Brewery (originally the Summer Brewery) is the town's largest and most impressive structure. This three-story building was constructed of native red sandstone and is still on its original site. The rock was quarried from the vicinity of Red Hill Pass. It was built between 1875 and 1876.
The Brewery is home to the Bayou Salado exhibit. One enters the brewery through a rustic doorway, then down a flight of narrow wooden steps to the basement of the ice room. Here, a ten-minute video portrays the history of South Park and its residents.
